Get a first life, dude

It could be easy to assume that the kind of guys doing online dating are all web nerds, just a bunch of programmers who surf chicks when they aren't writing code. But I've only found this to be true once. And daaaaamn, that was a terrible date. Two people could not have been more not-meant for each other. It became apparent within minutes. He chatted about himself, made web jokes and programming references and got neither a laugh nor a question from me. Then I took my turn, make some pop culture jokes and it was his turn to stare blankly before talking again about his avatar on Second Life. Zero in common. Not an interest, not a band, not a food group, not even a common language.

I (quickly) left thinking he was the most boring man alive, an online dating sterotype come to life-ish. But, then again, was I a stereotype? Did he walk away thinking I was boring? Did he go home and write in his blog about this awful girl who didn't even care about the next Flash advancement? Maybe. But then again, why would I care?
